Washington, Oct 26(ANI): The United States has ruled out any possibility of war with Pakistan in the wake of Afghan President Hamid Karzai's controversial statement in this regard.
"God forbid, if there is a war between Pakistan and US, Afghanistan would stand by Pakistan," Karzai had said in an interview with Geo TV last week.
When asked during a regular press briefing how the US regards Karzai's remarks, State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said: "My boss [US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton] spoke to that, and she said it's not an issue because it's not going to happen."
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, en route Las Vegas, Nevada, was also asked to comment on Karzai's controversial remarks.
"I don't have any reaction beyond that our relationship with Pakistan, as you know, is complicated but important. Our cooperation with Pakistan continues and is vital to our efforts to combat al Qaeda," Carney said in his response.
"And, I mean, that's a hypothetical that doesn't have a lot of bearing on current reality," he added. (ANI)
