UPSTF arrests two PFI men, saying they had plans to cause UP blasts

On Tuesday, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested two Popular Front of India (PFI) members in Lucknow for allegedly planning bomb blasts across the state. The STF sleuths reported that from the custody of the two arrested defendants, namely Anshad Badruddin and Firoz Khan, both natives of Kerala, powerful improvised explosive devices were seized.

They were arrested at the Kukrail Trisection in the Lucknow town of Indiranagar. The police, along with a pistol and ammunition, seized 16 explosive devices, batteries, and detonators from their possession. The two have admitted to having the plot to cause several blasts to mark the 'Famous Front Day'-on February 17, police said, the foundation day of their outfit. The ADG said the arrests were made following clear tip-offs about a plot to cause blasts in various parts of the state. "We got clear results that on February 11 the two had entered Lucknow and a manhunt was launched, but to no avail," he said
