Union Minister Manoj Sinha downplays reports of him becoming Uttar Pradesh chief minister

Sinha who is three time MP from Ghazipur is considered close to PM Modi and all set to become UP CM. The official announcement, however, will be made later in the evening after the meeting of the BJP legislative party.

Union Minister of State for Railways, Manoj Sinha has downplayed reports of taking over as the next Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. As the suspense of the UP CM continued even a week after BJP registered a landslide victory in UP polls, sources said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah have zeroed on Sinha for the top post.

Sinha who is three time MP from Ghazipur is considered close to PM Modi and all set to become UP CM. The official announcement, however, will be made later in the evening after the meeting of the BJP legislative party.

Sinha, who was on a day's visit to Varanasi, on Saturday, visited the Kaal Bhairon temple, Kashi Vishwanath temple and later the Sankat Mochan temple early in the morning, a indication of him having already committed to the top post.

Speaking exclusively to India Today, Sinha dismissed report of him becoming the Chief Minister of UP. Sinha said he was merely a worker of the party and already has lot of responsibility as Union Minister.

“I am a worker of the BJP. I already have lot of responsibility as Railway and Communication Minister. In such circumstances, there is no question of me taking the new responsibility," said Manoj Sinha, Union Minister.
