Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri spoke exclusively to Times Now on the new strain of COVID that has been reported in the United Kingdom, and the Centre's decision to suspend all the flights from the UK. The virus is 70% more transmissible than other versions of COVID-19 and many countries have banned flights from the UK, in order to contain the spread of the virus. India has temporarily suspended flights till Dec 31st.
Hardeep Singh Puri states that they have suspended the flights for the time being in order to have a fuller understanding of the situation. Further, he adds that the decision of suspension is not abrupt and will come into effect from Dec 22 at 23:59 hours.
