The riots that Delhi saw in the month of February over the Citizenship Amendment Act, was one of its kind and is likely to go down in the history. The protests turned violent soon after and turned into one of the worst riots Delhi ever witnessed, which left 53 people dead and many more injured, with hundreds being displaced.
Recently, Delhi Police’s Special cell has arrested JNU Student and activist Umar Khalid under various charges. The detail of Umar Khalid’s role has been cleared in the chargesheet. Several sections of Indian Penal Code and UAPA have been slapped against Umar Khalid. The Special cell of the Delhi Police is yet to file a chargesheet against Umar Khalid but the special cell claims that Umar Khalid’s role is pretty clear.
