UDF, Congress causes a ruckus in state Assembly, demands CM Pinarayi Vijayan govt resignation

As the Kerala Legislative Assembly's 22nd session began on Friday, unruly scenes were seen inside the House as the United Democratic Front (UDF) led by Congress staged a protest demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan from the Left Government. As Governor Arif Mohammad Khan began delivering his inaugural speech, UDF representatives generated a ruckus.

As the Kerala Governor delivered his speech in the Assembly, the Congress-led opposition staged a walkout. The opposition protested against the Vijayan government over cases of gold smuggling in Kerala and dollar smuggling.

It may be noted that the Vijayan government has been attacked by the UDF and the BJP after the Kerala gold smuggling case came to the fore in July 2019.
