Intensive scientific research shows people really like free stuff. A lot. If you’re people, you might want to get in on Uber’s Free Cone Fridays. Caveat: Must love McDonald’s.
The beleaguered ride-sharing app announced yesterday that starting Friday Aug. 11 at 11 a.m., it’s delivering ice cream. According to Uber, users can request the frozen dessert through the app. If a driver is in your area and “matches” with you, an ice cream truck shows up for you and up to four friends.
But then — as if this isn’t delightful enough — this treat comes with one limited edition, collectible cone. If you can find four lactose-tolerant, ice-cream-anytime friends to order with you, you might want to call dibs on said cone. It’s the key to one free soft serve cone every Friday at McDonald’s restaurants through September 22.
The service is only available in 10 cities in North America. Toronto’s on the list, as is Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Atlanta, New York, Miami, Dallas, San Francisco, Boston and Seattle.
“Hurry, because collectible cones are limited and Ice Cream will go fast!” the company cautions via email. You may also be fortunate enough to receive ice cream from pirates, as a few “lucky” (!) people in Seattle did last year.
