Uber is updating its driver's app where the users would be given notification for taking >breaks after 12 hours of driving.
In it, the users would receive timely notifications to take breaks while driving. This update was brought keeping the National Sleeping Foundation report in mind. According to the report, seven million people have admitted that they dose off behind the wheels.
With the new update, drivers would be given periodic notifications about the breaks. They would get breaks for 6 hours, following this they can reset the app.
Keeping this in mind, Uber will keep a time counter on how long they have been driving. The counter goes off the moment it crosses the 12-hour limit and resets after 6 hours. This update will vary from one city to another.
Uber's product manager said, "While nearly 60 percent of US drivers use Uber less than 10 hours a week, we want to do our part to help prevent drowsy driving."
