Amid continuing tensions in northeast Delhi, three journalists from the TV channel NDTV, and one from JK 24X7, were allegedly beaten up by a mob on Tuesday, 25 February.
NDTV's executive editor Nidhi Razdan posted on Twitter saying that the mob “stopped beating them after realising they are 'our people - Hindus'.”
Shortly after, one of the journalists, Saurabh Shukla tweeted, “In the past one hour, I’ve received many calls and messages from well-wishers. We are fine. We’ll talk about the rest.”

Chetan Bhattacharji, Managing Editor, NDTV 24x7, took to Twitter to say that both the journalists were back safe, “although injured and bruised”. He further said that a third NDTV reporter, Mariyam Alavi, had also been “attacked” in northeast Delhi but was also safe.

Meanwhile, news channel JK 24X7 also claimed that one of their journalist Akash Napa was also severely injured in Maujpur.
“Shameful scenes from Maujpur. Amid the violence, JK 24X7 journalist Akash Napa became the target of rioters’ gunshots. Akash has been admitted to a hospital and is critical,” the news channel tweeted.

As many as seven people, including a head constable, have died as violence over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act spiralled out of control in northeast Delhi on Monday, turning it into a battlefield, with frenzied protesters torching houses, shops, vehicles and a petrol pump.
Stone-pelting continued on Tuesday, with rioters damaging two fire tenders in Gokulpuri, according to fire officials. Section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed in the North East Delhi distict.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday called for peace in his media address after the outbreak of violence. He met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the law and order situation in the national capital.
