A possible terror attack has been thwarted with the arrest of two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists who were planning to carry out attacks in the national capital during the ongoing Republic Day celebrations, police said.

"Ganai is a member of JeM and he was planning a similar terror attack in heavy footfall areas of the national capital during the ongoing Republic Day celebrations," Kushwah said.
A team of Special Cell on Tuesday rushed to Jammu and Kashmir and recovered two improvised explosive devices (IED)/grenades at his instance and arrested another terrorist, Hilal Ahmad Bhat, from Bandipora, who had carried out a recce of the target areas in Delhi, the police said.
Information about the module was shared with Srinagar Police, which also thereafter arrested terrorists of this module involved in grenade attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
Upon interrogation, both Ganai and Hilal disclosed that they were affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammad, with Ganai being the District Commander of JeM in Ganderbal, the police further said.
