Two deaths, 189 new COVID-19 cases in Telangana

Hyderabad, Mar 10 (PTI) Telangana witnessed a slight increase in its daily coronavirus cases with 189 new additions, highest in a fortnight.

The total positives in the state surged past 3 lakh with the addition of 189 infections, a state government bulletin said on Wednesday, providing details as of 8 PM on March 9.

Two more COVID-19 patients died, taking the toll to 1,646, it said.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 34, followed by Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri districts with 15 and 12 cases respectively.

The bulletin said 176 people recovered from the infection on March 9 and the cumulative recovered cases stood at 2,96,916.

According to the bulletin, 1,780 were under treatment.

It said 39,000 samples were tested on March 9.

Cumulatively, the number of samples tested was 90,55,741.

The samples tested per million population was 2,43,303, it said.

The recovery rate in the state was 98.85 per cent, while it was 96.9 per cent in the country, it said.

The case fatality rate in the state was 0.54 per cent, while it was 1.4 per cent at the national level, the bulletin added. PTI SJR ROH ROH
