Twitter India files affidavit in Delhi High Court; Yet to appoint grievance officer

Twitter India has filed an affidavit in the Delhi High Court, saying that they are in the process of appointing a grievance officer. Twitter had lost its legal shield in India over appointing statutory officers as demanded by the Government of India’s new IT Rules. The government officials said that since the social media application failed to comply with the new digital rules, their protection as an intermediary has gone. This is linked to the new IT Rules that were released earlier this year. The loss of their protection means that Twitter will now be open to any sort of legal action from "third party information, data, or communication links made available or hosted by him. They have also clarified that it's a US company, and hence the compliance rules should be such. Watch the video to know more!
