Twitter apologizes for showing Leh Ladakh as a part of China

Twitter apologizes to Parliamentary committee for showing Leh Ladakh as part of China. Times Now speaks to the head of Parliamentary committee Meenakashi Lekhi.

She said that Twitter’s deposition came in the form of an affidavit signed by Damien Karien, Chief Privacy Officer of Twitter Inc, for wrongly geo-tagging India’s map.

“We have received an affidavit from Twitter where they have accepted their mistake of wrongly geo-tagging a part of Ladakh and showing it as part of China… They have informed that they will rectify it by November 30,” Meenakashi Lekhi said.

The committee had come down heavily on Twitter last month for the error and said that the wrong depiction amounted to treason. The central committee had sought an explanation from the US-based social media platform through an affidavit.
