The picturesque Alpines of Switzerland are breathtaking, but what more can there be apart from the beauty? There can be thrill, adventure, and lot of fun.
Well-known skier Jérémie Heitz challenged former GS World Champion and 12-time world cup winner Daron Rahlves to a skiing contest held early December 2018.
The two skiers, Heitz and Rahlves undertook a crazy adventure to ‘Race the Face’ on a unique giant slalom course (an alpine skiing discipline that involves skiing between sets of poles (gates) spaced at a distance from each other) in an ultimate skiing showdown.
The two athletes skied to ‘Race the Face’, a giant 4,000 metre slalom adventure in the Alpine regions of Switzerland.
The two raced up the Hohberghorn face which is a 50-degree slope.
The drone subsequently filmed every twist and turn of the two mountaineers who made their way through the Alps.
"“It’s been a project that has been tough to pull off because of the weather factors and snow conditions... to come out here and have the right window but it takes a lot of... like the perfect snow conditions.”" - Daron Rahlves, Skiing World Champion
However, Rahlves clocked in a time of 26.440 with Heitz following him down in 27.720, a time difference of 1.28 seconds.
Heitz remarked, "I knew I couldn't fight against a Kitzbühel winner!"
