Title favourites Kolkata Knight Riders justified that tag by trashing Gujarat Lions in both the teams' first IPL match of the season on Friday in Indore. Set a 184-run target, KKR managed to not lose one wicket in the chase and won the match by 10 wickets.
At the two ends of the crease for KKR were skipper Gautam Gambhir, who smashed 76 off 48, and Aussie Chris Lynn who stole the show, facing even lesser balls than his skipper. Lynn blasted 93 off just 42 after reaching his half-century in 19. The Australian used his raw power to clobber the likes of Dwayne Smith who he smashed 23 runs off, in just one over. The 184-run stand was also KKR's highest opening wicket stand, surpassing the previous best of 121 involving Gambhir and Robin Uthappa.
Here's a look at some of the accolades that came Lynn's way... on Twitter
Had been told to watch out for Chris Lynn this year. Well, he's arrived by the looks of it!— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) April 7, 2017
Given his excellent form in BBL Chris Lynn was excellent choice by KKR for their first match. Gujarat need some wickets quick! #IPL2017— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) April 7, 2017
