Turmeric, jeera weaken on subdued demand

New Delhi, Apr 1 (PTI) Turmeric and jeera prices fell by up to Rs 300 per quintal in the national capital today on easing demand from retailers and stockists amid sufficient stocks position.

Turmeric prices drifted lower by Rs 200 to finish at Rs 7,200-10,500 per quintal.

Jeera common also declined by Rs 300 to conclude at Rs 18,500-18,700 per quintal.

Marketmen said low demand from retailers and stockists against sufficient stocks, mainly pulled down turmeric and jeera prices.

Following are today’s quotations (in Rs): Ajwain (per kg) 125-180, black pepper (per kg) 640-790, betel-nut (kg) 250-295, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 720-740 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 780-1,070.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,330-1,430, cardamom (colour robin) 1,210-1,230, cardamom bold 1,230-1,250, cardamom extra (bold) 1,330-1,350 and cloves 550-650. (MORE)
