The protest is intensifying in Nepal's Terai region ahead of the election that will be held in the month of May. Violence broke out after the opposition Communist Party of Nepal - United Marxist Leninist attempted to hold a rally in Rajbiraj town in the southwest of Kathmandu. However, the ethnic Madhesi groups oppose the party and have vowed to stop the rallies which led to clashes and protests in the region. As a matter of concern to control the ongoing situation in the Southern Plains and for the smooth conduct of election, a tripartite talk was held between the leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Maoist leaders. During the talk, the opposition party urged for complete security ahead of the by poll campaign and vowed to resume the campaign soon. The agitating UDMF has also asked for the cancellation of 14th May Local Election but the opposition has rather demanded for election on the stipulated time.
