Pushkar (Rajasthan), Nov.23 (ANI): Hundreds of foreign tourists have arrived in Pushkar, Rajasthan, for the annual camel fair.
An ecstatic French national Paulo said:" I am from France and for the first time in Pushkar, very nice, lot of light, lot of nice rangoli, it is very good, and camel festival is very amazing."
The fair, which kicked off on November 2, is known worldwide to present a brilliant combination of camel rides, various sporting events, Indian handicrafts, and mouth-savouring food.
Set against the backdrop of Rajasthan's picturesque landscape, the annual fair offers a lifetime experience for tourists.
Hindu devotees offered special prayers on the occasion of 'deepdan' wherein the town's lake is decked with thousands of earthen lamps.
"Any kind of person, rich or poor get can get his sins forgiven and ancestors blessed by offering prayers and donations. So on this day special prayers are performed and earthen lamps are lit," said Swami, a Hindu priest.
The fair attracts hundreds of animal traders and buyers from other states also.
It is also an occasion for Hindu pilgrims to converge for a holy dip in the sacred Pushkar Lake, as it is believed that it 'washes away the sins of a lifetime' and pay obeisance at the only temple in the world dedicated of Lord Brahma. (ANI)
