Too many new entries in Bigg Boss 13: A means to rake in numbers or shift focus from Sidharth Shukla?

Bigg Boss 13: Vishal A ditya Singh and Hindustani Bhau have entered the show as wild card contestants.

In any reality show, wild cards are brought in to up the drama quotient and intensify competition. But in Bigg Boss 13, the new entrants seem to be a desperate move by makers to create some different content. As many as seven new and two evicted contestants have entered the show. And while the makers keep on bringing in people, the show interestingly has been only revolving around Sidharth Shukla.

The Balika Vadhu actor has been the source of all fights and drama in the show. The contestants are clearly divided into for and against him in the house. Even host Salman Khan accepted that housemates will have nothing to talk about or do if he gets eliminated. Be it his aggressive behaviour, physical strength, arrogance, most contestants have major issues with Sidharth. While he considers Arti Singh, Asim Riaz and Shehnaz Gill as his friends, they too have faced the wrath of his anger time and again.

Sidharth Shukla has been the source of all fights and drama in Bigg Boss 13.

Talking about the entries, post the mid-season finale, we had Himanshi Khurana, Hindustani Bhau, Khesari Lal Yadav, Shefali Jariwala, Arhaan Khan and Tehseen Poonawalla making their way into the show. Apart from Hindustani Bhau, none of the celebrities managed to make a mark. While Tehseen, who claimed that he will win the show turned 'unseen' during his stay, Bhojpuri superstar Khesari has himself realised that he is a misfit among these drama-hungry housemates.

The audience expected sparks to fly when Himanshi entered the show, given her past controversies with Shehnaz Gill. But after some minutes of hysteric crying and blame game, everything seems to have gone quiet between them. Arhaan's addition was to bring in some romance with Rashami Desai but the boy seems to be more interested in locking horns with Sidharth Shukla, and has not been giving enough attention to his rumoured girlfriend. As for Shefali, she might have managed to come across as a strong performer but has now stuck to only being Shukla's advocate in the game.

Shefali Jariwala is stuck to only being Sidharth  Shukla's advocate in the game.

Rashami Desai and Devoleena Bhattacharjee, who got evicted during the mid-season finale, came back last week. While the audience is no more naive to not understand that it was a well-planned move, the makers must be pulling their hair out over their ploy frittering away. Rashami was advised by the host and even the guests to avoid focusing on Shukla, but all of it seems to have fallen on deaf ears. The actor has still not stopped talking about her friend-turned-foe, leaving fans completely bored.

On the other hand, Devoleena Bhattacharjee tried hard to make things interesting by starting a morning chat show but that too became a means for housemates to bad mouth Sidharth Shukla. She also tried to flirt with Arhaan Khan, but as we said earlier, he is on a different mission in the show. Last night, whatever footage Bhattacharjee managed to generate, no points for guessing, was with Shukla.

The newest entrant Vishal Aditya Singh seems to be the last resort for makers to shift the focus, and get some new drama on the show. With Arti Singh confessing that friends advised her to connect with Vishal for some romance in the house, it gives a clear hint at how things will pan out in the reality show. The two even indulged in a fake wedding last night. And if things do move the way it is right now, well, then the makers have a trump card in hand. But the question remains, how long?

Vishal Aditya Singh and Arti Singh might bring some romance in the Bigg Boss house.

All said and done, we hope there are no more contestants introduced in the season. Going by the last one and a half month's experience, makers should realise that they will not help in raking in any numbers. As for us audience, it is, anyways, hard to remember most of the contestants, given they are not even around Sidharth Shukla, sorry, I meant the camera.
