TN elections 2021: SDPI forms an alliance with AMMK after talks with MNM; parties to fight for 6 seats

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has formed an alliance with TTV Dhinakaran's Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, following Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) (AMMK). The SDPI had been in talks with Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), but instead preferred to collaborate with AMMK. In the AMMK alliance, the party will run in six constituencies: Alandhur, Ambur, Trichy West, Thiruvarur, Madurai Central, and Palayankotai.

Dhinakaran is the nephew of VK Sasikala, a close aide to late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. Despite his aunt's declaration that she will stay out of politics and encouraging her followers to ensure the ruling AIADMK's victory and defeat the DMK in the polls, TTV has decided to race.
