TMC MP Mukul Roy Quits Party, Says Will Reveal Reason After Durga Puja
New Delhi: Estranged Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mukul Roy on Monday announced his decision to quit the party. Roy, who was once considered as West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s right-hand man said that he was forced to resign from the party.
Talking to reporters, Roy said that after Durga Puja he will tender his resignation formally and will reveal the reason behind his decision.
“With a heavy heart, I am announcing that I will quit the primary party post of Trinamool Congress and the Rajya Sabha membership. I will formally resign after the Durga Puja break,” leading portal News 18 quoted the estranged TMC leader as saying.
A few days back, TMC secretary general and West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee had hit out at Roy for allegedly hobnobbing with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.
Roy was earlier removed as the party’s in-charge of Tripura, where the TMC was steadily making inroads till its members switched over to the BJP earlier this year.
