I was thrilled to be the voice for SRK: Raghav Mathur

Mumbai, Nov. 24 -- Most music buffs will remember singer Raghav Mathur for his 2004 song Can't get enough, which is a remix of a popular retro Hindi tune Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar (Aar Par, 1954). The Canadian artiste, known for his distinctive pop-R&B style, recently made his Bollywood playback debut with Ishq Shava in Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

"Working with AR Rahman (music composer for the film) was a dream come true. We had a meeting, where he asked me to sing something.

I did and everything else followed. It all happened very quickly. Plus, I was thrilled to be the voice for Shah Rukh Khan," says Mathur.

He adds, "The sound of Bollywood music is changing and composers are taking huge risks. Currently, I'm working on some Bollywood and Hollywood projects with Rahman. He is feeding me with endless knowledge."

Having released three albums in the past, the singer is also working on putting out a video for his single named Fire. He also hopes to be a part of the steady rejuvenation of indie-music scene in the country.

"After 2006, I'm not quite sure what happened to the pop music industry in India. It's very important to have a healthy music scene, because not only does the quality of music gets better, but the listeners get to have a greater choice in the music they like," says Mathur. A peppy duet, Ishq Shava also features singer Shilpa Rao. "Her voice is super unique," says Mathur.

Ask him about what, according to him, contributed to the success of the song and he says, "It is the power of late Yash Chopraji, Shah Rukh Khan and Rahman."
