The fate of Karan Johar’s Shiddat seemed to hang in the balance after Sridevi’s demise. Rumours were rife that Sridevi’s contemporary, Madhuri Dixit is set to take on her role in the film. Janhvi Kapoor’s post on Instagram now confirms this development.
The Ek Do Teen diva will now play the role offered by Dharma Productions to Sridevi in the Abhishek Varman directorial.
"Abhishek Varman’s next film was very close to mom’s heart ...Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film..." - Janhvi Kapoor on social media
Now it was assumed that the film Janhvi is referring to is titled Shiddat, but Karan Johar has now tweeted that it is not so.
Some clarifications!!! Yes...we are honoured and humbled to have @MadhuriDixit on board for @abhivarman ‘s next! NO the film is NOT titled SHIDHAT! Yes the film will Commence shoot in mid April! The films final cast and credits will be announced soon!— Karan Johar (@karanjohar) March 19, 2018
The ensemble cast of the film will reportedly comprise Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Singa and Aditya Roy Kapur.
Sridevi passed away in February in Dubai at the age of 54.
