Terrorists Kill Two Guards of Jammu And Kashmir Bank in Looting Bid
Srinagar, Dec 11: Two guards of a cash van of Jammu and Kashmir Bank were killed in an attack in Srinagar on Monday. Unconfirmed reports suggested the terrorists attacked the van in Kralchak area of Shopian district and looted an unspecified money. The terrorists fled with the money after firing shots in the air.
The details of the incident are awaited. The incidents of looting banks in the valley have increased. In a similar incident, a few masked gunmen had barged into the Ellaquai Dehati Bank in Wahibug village of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district and looted Rs. five lakh.
The second incident took place at the Nehama branch of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank. Two masked gunmen, earlier on May 2 looted Rs. 65,000 from the same bank.
Earlier, the Inspector General of Police Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gillani had said the terrorists of Laskar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen were involved in looting incidents in recent past. “The investigation revealed terrorists of Laskar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen are involved in recent cases of bank loot in south Kashmir. We are trying to arrest them or neutralize them as soon as possible,” Gilani had said.
