At least one unidentified terrorist has been killed in an encounter that broke out on Monday morning between terrorists and the security forces at the Khanmoh area in Srinagar. The operation is underway. A joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are carrying out the operation. According to sources, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area based on information about the presence of militants there, the police said. The operation turned into an encounter after the militants opened fire towards positions of the security forces. Earlier on May 16, an improvised explosive device (IED) was detected and neutralised between Sugan and Turkhwangam security forces in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, according to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar.
