Ten members from same family killed in fire outbreak in Agra

Agra, Oct 13 (ANI): At least ten members of a family were charred to death after a fire broke out at a house in Agra in the early hours of Saturday.

Fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the fire and extinguish the flames after battling with it for hours.

The fire broke out at about 2am on Saturday at Sewla Jat area of Agra. Those killed included four adults and six children from the same family.

Exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The house was owned by Braj Mohan Agarwal who was sleeping on ground floor of three storied house with others.

People said that the efforts to douse the fire were in full swing and the firemen ensured that the fire did not spread to nearby areas.

"There was a power cut and it is being presumed that they had lighted candles. So may be the cause of the fire is lighted candles or a short circuit after light was restored.

"The house was on fire for around two and a half hours. Four families were inside the house, two on the ground floor and two on the first floor. Out of which, two families have survived and two families are charred to death," said

Vishnu Pachauri, a local.

The officials are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.

As per latest reports, those killed included two men, two women and six children from the same family.

"Ten people are killed, out of which six are children, two women and two men," said Ram Kumar, another local. (ANI)
