19-year-old dies after being pushed by trainer during disaster drill in Coimbatore
In a freak accident, a 19-year-old girl died when she jumped off the second floor of a building during a disaster preparedness drill organised at a private college on the outskirts of Coimbatore on Thursday evening.
Hailing from Alandurai village in Coimbatore district, Logeshwari was pursuing her Bachelor of Business Administration ( BBA) at Nagammal College of Arts and Science.
A video of the training session accessed by India Today clearly shows Logeshwari's reluctance to jump off the second floor. She was nudged by the trainer and finally given a push. She hit the roof of the sunshade of the first floor and fell motionless on the ground. She was immediately rushed to the government hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Though, students were holding a safety net below for safe landing, the video clearly shows the girl was not prepared for the training.
According to the police, 20 students were given training. The authorities are quizzing the college principal and the trainer.
