After TDP's exit, Lok Sabha MP Raju Shetti resigns from NDA
Raju Shetti, a Lok Sabha member from Maharashtra has announced his resignation from NDA.
Shetti made the announcement after his meeting with Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
Earlier, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had to face a challenging situation after N Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party walked out of the alliance.
Chandrababu Naidu's TDP has 16 MPs in Lok Sabha, making it one of the biggest alliance partners after the Shiv Sena in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA. The Shiv Sena, which has decided to go solo in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, has 18 MPs in Lok Sabha.
The NDA currently has a huge hare in the Lok Sabha, accounting for 330 MPs in a House which has a current strength of 536 MPs. Of these, the BJP alone has over 270 MPs.
This includes two nominated MPs who have subsequently joined the BJP.
Going by current numbers, the BJP still enjoys a majority in Lok Sabha.
