Taylor Swift’s Star-Studded Single Calls out Homophobia and How!

Taylor Swift’s second single from her album Lover, released on Monday and takes on homophobia in the most sassy way! Titled You Need To Calm Down, the music video shows Taylor and a whole lot of celebrities celebrating Pride Month in a beautiful and ‘colorful’ way.

It opens with the singer waking up in a trailer and continues into a number of cameos, the most surprising one being Katy Perry. Ellen DeGeneres, Ryan Reynolds, Bobby Berk, Billy Porter, Justin Mikita, Adam Lambert, Todrick Hall, Adam Rippon, Chester Lockhart, Jonathan Van Ness and Tan France all appear as friendly neighbors in a candy colored LGBTQ+ themed trailer park. Drag Queens are also dressed up as Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Gwen Stefani and Adele are all queens according to RuPaul, who makes an appearance as a beauty pageant judge. Watch it here!

Ryan Reynolds appears as the painter painting Stonewall Inn which is a gay landmark in New York City. It's also where Taylor made a surprise appearance on Friday to perform You Need to Calm Down. The most surprising appearance of all is of Katy Perry who comes dressed up as a hamburger (she dressed up similarly for the Met Gala) and they share a hug. Katy and Taylor have shared a bittersweet relationship in the past, but it seems like they have buried the hatchet now!

Earlier this year, she had released the first single of her album titled Me. It broke YouTube records by getting 11 million views in less than two hours! The single is supposed to be an anthem for self love. Probably because she realised after writing all those break up songs that in the end what’s left of it is only love for thyself?
