After the successful roll out of Tata Tigor compact sedan, Tata Motors will be launching the much anticipated Tata Nexon compact SUV during the festive period. Showcased at Delhi Auto Expo 2016, the compact SUV has been spotted while testing on Indian roads. Recently, the upcoming SUV was spotted while doing rounds without camouflage which proffers essential details about the vehicle. The test mule of Nexon yet again has been spied in the Hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh undergoing high-altitude testing. Talking about the exterior design, the sub-4m SUV flaunts its aerodynamic design which is accentuated by piano black grille, projector headlamps, Humanity line on the upper grille, LED DRLs, large bumper, 17-inch alloy wheels, body cladding, flared wheel arches, LED tail lights and much more. Dimensionally, the all-new Tata Nexon sub-compact SUV will measure 3995mm in length, 1811mm in width, 1607mm in width with wheelbase and ground clearance of 2470mm and 200mm.
To be offered with 1.2-litre turbo and 1.5-litre diesel engines, the upcoming Tata Nexon SUV will be the most powerful sub-compact SUV in the country. As 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged petrol motor will be tuned to develop 110bhp whereas the 1.5-litre Revotroq diesel unit will be tuned to produce 108bhp of max power against the peak torque of 260Nm. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Moreover, an optional AMT transmission unit could be offered on diesel variants. The overall layout of the cabin is neatly crafted which gives a premium feel to the interior. The cabin comes with a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, drive modes selector switch, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, and leather seats. In terms of safety, the SUV will be equipped with dual front airbags, advanced dual path suspension, ABS with EBD along with corner stability, rear view camera, ISOFIX mounts and much more.
Tata Motors will be looking to introduce the Nexon SUV with an attractive price point which is expected to fall in the bracket of INR 6.5 lakh to INR 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The sub-compact SUV will be pitted against the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport.
