Tata Motors today officially announced the sales figures for the month of March 2017 wherein the company registered a sales growth of 8 percent. The company’s total sales for the month of March 2017 stood at 57,145 units as compared to 53,057 units sold in the same month last year. The company registered growth of 10 percent in domestic sales of Tata Commercial and passenger vehicles for March 2017 with 51,309 units to 46,701 units for the corresponding month last year. Mr. Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, “The sales for the month of March have been encouraging with a robust growth of 84% owing to the continued demand for TIAGO and HEXA. The launch of the HEXA, TIAGO AMT and TIGOR have set new benchmarks in their respective segments signifying Tata Motors as one of the fastest growing manufacturers in India.”
The cumulative sales for the company for the fiscal also saw an increase of 6 percent with 542,561 numbers against 511,705 units sold last year. The wholesales of Commercial vehicles were affected post Supreme Court’s judgement on March 29, however, retail showed strong demand.
As far as the domestic passenger vehicle are concerned, the company registered sale of 15,433 units with a growth of 84% compared to last year which is possible due to overwhelming response for its recently launched lifestyle UV, Tata Hexa and Tigor Styleback. Moreover, the cumulative sales for all passenger vehicles grew by 22% with 153,151 units as compared to 125,946 units last fiscal. The company registered a decline in overall commercial vehicles sales for the month of March 2017 wherein Tata Motors saw a decline in sales with 35,876 units over March 2016. The company sold 18,228 units of Small & Light Commercial Vehicles in March 2017 as compared to 19,777 units last year March 2016 witnessing a decline of more than 8% percent. The company’s sales from exports stood at 5,836 units in March 2017 witnessing a decline of 8 percent compared to 6,356 vehicles sold last year.
