The ongoing Tamil Nadu political drama has now a new participant - J Jayalalithaa niece Deepa Jayakaumar's husband Madhavan.
Madhavan launched his own political outfit today at the Jayalalithaa memorial at Chennai's Marina beach. Madhavan broke away from Deepa's party - MGR Amma Deepa Peravai on March 18.
Madhavan played a keyrole in the formation of Deepa's Pervai party following Jayalalithaa's death in December last year. However, the two fell apart soon after.
Madhavan had said he could not function independently in Deepa's party due to some "evil forces", which had taken over the outfit and hence, he decided to launch a party and work on his own. Madhavan, however, said he had no differences with Deepa.
Deepa and Madhavan had launched 'MGR Amma Deepa Peravai' on February 24 with much fanfare while expressing displeasure over E Palanisamy made the chief minister of the state.
"Palanisamy is not the right person people wanted as a chief minister of Tamil Nadu. This kind of hijacking of the party is not good. There is a traitor group working behind the government and we will work continuously to throw away this group," Deepa had said.
