Chief Minister Edapadi K Palaniswami countered actor Kamal Haasan's allegations about the ruling government and blaming it for causing unnecessary trouble to the actor's film career.
Haasan had recently taken to Twitter and posted strong messages against social inequality and the political situation in the state after the death of Jayalalithaa. The actor welcomed the protest for Jallikattu by students at Marina beach too stating that he was expecting more such protests.
The actor said that he's been vocal all his life about certain dogmas in the society and never abstained from criticising anyone, be it the chief minister or anyone else.
Talking about reforms in politics, Haasan stated that it has a become a profession to be a politician and said, "This is a profession where they choose their own salary, perks and many do relinquish it even after their term gets over." He even criticised the state politicians of becoming inaccessible to the public in recent times, which is not good for Tamil Nadu and talking about saffronisation, the actor claimed that Dravidian culture can never be eradicated.
The actor took a direct jibe on the AIADMK saying that one person, who was in power was the major reason for creating unnecessary ban and delay to his movie Vishwaroopam, causing a loss of Rs 55 crore four years ago.
Irked by Haasan's comments, Chief Minister Palaniswami attempted to obliterate the claims speaking during an event at Salem yesterday and questioned if he has forgotten the fact that it was Jayalalithaa who solved the isuue.
EPS also questioned Haasan stand as to how could he say that his government should not continue. "How can you question my governance and how can you say that I'm not the right person to rule. I've been with the party since the beginning and have held countless posts within the party and you call me an unknown face," he said.
WIth the open rebuttal, an open war has ensued between the ruling AIADMK and the actor, where the first set seems to have gone in the Haasan favour as CM's comeback lacked the punch or flavour.
