Tamil actor Khushboo's house vandalised after comment on Stalin

Karunanidhi had made it clear that he would propose his son MK Stalin as his successor.

CHENNAI: Tamil actress and DMK leader Khushboo's house was vandalised by more than 20 people who hurled stones at the windows, an NDTV report says.

Police said that the poeple who vandalised the actor's house belonged to her party. The attack was allegedly a retaliation to an interview that Khusboo had given to a regional magazine.

Shouting slogans, a group of people hurled stones at the windows of the actress's house, smashing some panes and windscreen of her car. The actress was away in Tiruchirapalli (Trichy), around 350 km from here, to attend a wedding, at the time of the attack.

As the actress emerged from her hotel in Trichy, a group of people flung their footwear at her.

In the interview, she had said that even though DMK chief Karunanidhi had said that proposed Stalin's name for the post of party president, the party has a democratic way of functioning and the general council will decide who will be the president.

Last month Karunanidhi had made it clear that he would propose his son MK Stalin as his successor or for the post of general secretary to the party's general council.

"DMK is a democratic party. For anybody to contest for president or general secretary's post, his name has to be proposed at the party's general council by majority and others have to abide by it," Karunanidhi told reporters after a meeting with the party's district secretaries here.

He said: "If I get such a chance in my personal capacity, then I would propose Stalin's name, as his name was earlier proposed by the party's general secretary and it will be like I am seconding it."
