In a unique initiative by the Income Tax Department in Ludhiana to combat pollution, the officers have decided to grow vertical garden in office premises using recyclable plastic bottles. The vertical garden has been named as "Green Plastic Initiative". Around 13000 bottles have been used to grow 28 varieties of plants on the vertical garden. The initiative uses Israeli technique of drip irrigation that timely waters the plant and also counters water shortage. The move is to counter the growing pollution in Ludhiana, said I-T Chief Commissioner of Punjab, Vinay Jha. The vertical garden has helped in absorbing the pollution in the area, he added.
