Basti (Uttar Pradesh), Dec. 2 (ANI): Congress leader Jagdambika Pal on Sunday took a jibe at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj over her advocating Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as a powerful contender for Prime Minster, saying that BJP leaders are making such statements out of frustration that the party and Modi might not win the assembly elections to be held later this month.
"Sushma Swaraj is the leader of Opposition and she is also a strong candidate for the Prime Minister's post in the BJP. It reflects the BJP leadership's frustration of loosing the assembly elections. After Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the party is suffering from lack of leadership and now so many people are posing their selves as next PM," said Pal.
"If Modi has worked properly, such hi-tech campaign was not required, he is wasting crores of public money for his virtual campaign in different cities simultaneously. If there had been development, it is not required to show himself at various places," he added.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader from Bihar, C P Thakur has endorsed Sushma Swaraj's view and said: "Modi has done very well in Gujarat and it will be good for the country if he becomes the Prime Minster."
Sushma Swaraj on Saturday said that there is no doubt over the fact that Narendra Modi is capable and fit for the Prime Minister's post, while addressing a public rallies for the party as part of the campaign for the upcoming state assembly polls. (ANI)
