Several political leaders on Wednesday, 19 August, hailed the Supreme Court verdict that ordered a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said that the SC verdict will ensure justice to Sushant Singh Rajput and his family.
“Supreme Court verdict makes it clear that probe by Bihar Police and FIR registered here were correct. Not just Sushant Singh Rajput's family or people of Bihar, entire country is concerned over the matter. With CBI probe, people can trust there'll be justice,” he said, reported ANI.
“It was duty of Bihar Police to probe after complaint, but they didn’t get cooperation in Mumbai. Behaviour meted out to our IPS officer is known to all. With SC verdict, it’s clear what happened wasn’t right. Any political comment in this situation isn’t right,” he said.

Meanwhile, several Maharashtra leaders chose to comment only after getting details of the verdict.
“The Supreme Court verdict has come, once we get a copy of the order we will comment on it,” Maharashtra Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh, told the media.
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, who has found himself in the middle of a controversy several times over making statements during the probe, refused to make a ‘political comment’ on the verdict.
“Those in the government who know the law, the Mumbai Police Commissioner or our Advocate General can talk about it, it is not fit for me to comment on the verdict of Supreme Court,” he said, as quoted by ANI.
