Suresh Raina once again becomes highest run-scorer in IPL history, surpasses Virat Kohli

Suresh Raina is currently leading the chart with 4166 runs with an average of 34.14.

Gujarat Lions captain Suresh Raina became the highest run scorer in Indian Premier League (IPL) as he surpassed Virat Kohli on Friday night while playing against Kolkata Knight Riders. Raina scored 68 in the opening game of Gujarat Lions at Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium.

With this fifty Raina scored four thousand runs in IPL. Raina is currently leading the chart with 4166 runs with an average of 34.14. Raina took 148 matches to achieve the feat while Virat Kohli, who is yet to play a match in IPL 10, scored 4110 runs in 139 matches at an average of 38.05. While Raina has 29 fifty in IPL Kohli has 26. However, the Indian skipper has four hundred in IPL. He needs two more hundred to become the most century scorer in IPL. Currently, Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate Chris Gayle has five hundred.

The third highest run scorer in the list in Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma who has 3877 runs to his name in 143 matches. Also read: IPL 2017 Points Table

Kohli is yet to play a match IPL in this season as he is yet to fully recover from his right shoulder injury. Kohli has suffered a shoulder injury during the Ranchi Test while attempting a diving stop.

However, Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by record 10 wickets as opener Chris Lynn (93) and Gautam Gambhir (76) built a 184 runs partnership in 15 overs to win their opening game of IPL 10.
