Supreme Court judge says image of lawyers in India 'not good'

The 14th KK Luthra Memorial Moot Court competition, 2018, concluded on Sunday at Delhi’s Habitat Centre. The much awaited competition was organised by the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, Delhi University and K.K.

Justices Vibhu Bakhru, V. Kameswar Rao and C. Hari Shankar of the Delhi High Court were the guests of honour at the prize distribution ceremony.

The first prize was bagged by Sastra University, Tamil Nadu, and the second prize was won by Campus Law Centre, Lucknow.

Handing out the prizes to the winners of the moot court competition, Justice Rao said, “The image of lawyers in this country is not that very good. I am being very frank here. I am telling you about our standing in the society.”

“I speak for the profession also. There should be more quality when it comes to the profession,” he added.

This year, the competition saw the participation of nearly 72 institutions from India and abroad.
