Mental health is a serious issue and in no way it should be ignored.
Be it anxiety, depression, or some serious disorder, acknowledging and addressing to all mental health issues is very important.
And so, at the workplace, you must always try to be more sympathetic towards your employees and staff and offer them support and help them deal with their issues.
Today in this video of Now You Know, we will tell you some ways to support mental health at the workplace –
• Keep Talking candidly about it
The first thing you need to do is stop treating mental illness as taboo and talk openly about it with your entire staff. Have open discussions and counseling sessions for them. Make everyone realize that they are not alone and you are there to help them in difficult times.
• Pay attention and provide help
Since it is not easy for people to talk openly about their mental health condition, it is your responsibility to look after the signs in your employees.
If you notice any behavioral changes in them, then don't hesitate to ask them if everything is alright or not?
Even if they deny, try to make the workplace more positive and comfortable for them.
• Offer mental health days off
although you can't see the damage it does to a person, it doesn't mean that it should be treated less than any other illness. If any of your staff members are having any mental health problem, give them an off so that they can take a break from the stressful work life and relax at home. It will help them take rest and recharge themselves and not let the issues become more adverse.
