Sukma attack: Citing 'intelligence failure' Cong seeks action against Chhattisgarh Govt.

New Delhi [India], April 25 (ANI): Condemning the deadly attack on CRPF personnel in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, the Congress has asserted that it is a clear case of intelligence failure while demanding strict action against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in the state.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told ANI, "Is it not a clear case of intelligence failure on the part of central and state governments? I think, it's time that strict action is taken against BJP government in Chhattisgarh for they utterly failed in defending the people and also in ensuring that our security forces are geared up in a manner where they can on the Naxalites."

Branding Chief Minister Raman Singh and the BJP government as a 'photo opportunity' government, Surjewala asked when will the Centre 'wake up?

Resonating similar views, AICC general secretary B. K. Hariprasad has termed the incident as unfortunate.

"The government doesn't have any political approach, not they have policy to handle Naxalism," Prasad told ANI.

Taking a dig at Raman Singh over his visit on bike in Sukma, the Congress leader said, "Raman Singh must have got some passive understanding with Naxalities that's why nothing happened to him when he was moving in motorcycles in Sukma, in such a dangerous place but whenever jawans move around. They are martyred by the Naxalites."

Hundreds of Maoists on Monday massacred at least 26 CRPF personnel in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district in the bloodiest attack in the state since 2010.

President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack, while the latter described the attack as cowardly and deplorable.

He assured that the Centre is monitoring the situation closely and the sacrifice of the martyrs will not go in vain.

In a series of tweets, he expressed condolences to the CRPF families saying the country is proud of their valour. (ANI)
