A better webcam, studio-grade microphones, and upgraded speakers make the iMac a solid desktop for working at home
Apple has just unveiled a refreshed 27-inch iMac all-in-one desktop. The newcomer packs a host of hardware upgrades, headlined by more processing and graphics power, an even better 5K Retina display, as well as vastly improved webcam and audio hardware.
All 27-inch iMac variants feature Intel’s 10th-generation processors. Buyers can choose between six-, eight-, or 10-core chips with up to 65% more power. Thanks to Radeon Pro 5000 series graphics, the new iMac also has up to 55% more oomph than its predecessor.
The 27-inch 5K Retina display of the new iMac now has True Tone tech, as well as optional nano-texture glass. Also available on the pricey Apple Pro Display XDR, the option will significantly improve the display’s visibility, including in bright spaces.
Best of all, the new iMac has a Full HD FaceTime camera, studio-quality microphones, and upgraded speakers. Combined, they will make the desktop computer an even mightier WFH tool.
Lastly, all variants of the 27-inch iMac will have an SSD that is much faster than the standard Fusion Drive of the previous generation. The hardware will also be available as an option on the 21.5-inch iMac with a 4K Retina display as well.
Pricing of the iMac kicks off at $1,799. The feature-packed all-in-one desktop is already available to order.
