Special focus on solar, wind energy: CM Gehlot

Jaipur (Rajasthan) April 5 (ANI): Inaugurating the 220 KV grid sub-station at Chhatargarh in Bikaner virtually, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot stressed that the state government has taken many important steps in the direction of making Rajasthan self-reliant in the field of energy. The state government is paying special attention to develop renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy and biomass. The CM underlined that Rajasthan has immense potential in the field of solar energy. The installed capacity of Rajasthan has now increased to 5002 MW in solar energy whereas in wind energy also our installed capacity has been increased to 4337 MW. CM Gehlot maintained that the state government is working towards providing electricity to every village in the state. He said that the government has released 1 lakh 81 thousand new agricultural connections in the last two years. This time, it has been announced to give 50 thousand new agricultural connections in the budget. Also, provision has been made for 50 thousand solar pumps so that by fixing solar pumps to the wells farmers could irrigate their fields.
