Special Competition matchday seven preview: Hearts out to make amends

The Phobians are on a mission to put smiles back on the face of their fans after Sunday's setback against Wafa

As the Ghana Football Association Normalisation Committee Special Competition league stage reaches the half-way point on Wednesday, Hearts of Oak will be seeking to bounce back to winning ways following a recent setback, while Kotoko will hope go return to action with a win after a forced rest on the last matchday.

For the second straight season, the Phobians lost away to Wafa, this time on a 3-2 score - not 5-0 as it happened last campaign. As the fifth-placed Accra-based side host second-from-bottom Inter Allies in Zone A, there is ever-mounting pressure on new coach Kim Grant to make amends in style.

Elsewhere in the zone, leaders Wafa will hope to continue their fine form with another three points when they play as guests to bottom-placed Ebusua Dwarfs, who only registered their first win of the championship on Sunday.

Dethroned leaders Karela United are seeking to beat Liberty Professionals to stand a chance of possibly recapturing the spot should Wafa slide.

In Dawu, hosts Dreams FC will lock horns with Elmina Sharks. Still Believe sit sixth on the eight-team table, three places adrift of their matchday opponents.

In Zone B, Kotoko, who were not in action on Sunday due to postponement of their fixture against Stallions FC (formerly Wa All Stars), return to the pitch with a home game against fifth-placed Berekum Chelsea.

There will be a fierce battle in Dormaa, where third-placed Aduana Stars will face off against Medeama, who sit one spot and one point above.

In the last game, Eleven Wonders and Bechem United will slug it out for three points at Techiman. The two teams are seventh and fifth on the table respectively.
