Lucknow, March 12 (IANS) Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal and hosts India would be seen in action in the four-day fourth South Asia Women's Handball Championship beginning March 14 at the K.D. Singh Babu Stadium here.
The announcement was made by Uttar Pradesh Handball Association president Tribhuvan Ram Tuesday.
The third edition was also held here in 2008 where India won. Bangladesh and Pakistan finished second and third, respectively, whereas Nepal stood fourth.
"We are committed for the successful conduct of the event as this has been an honour for UP Handball Association to conduct an international event for yet another year," said Ram.
Association secretary Anandeshwar Panday said that all the four teams will play on league-cum-knock-out basis. Defending champions India will take on Nepal in the opening match March 14 at 4 p.m.
The final will be played March 17 at 4 p.m.
"Due to some reasons Bangladesh is not participating in this championship," said Panday.
