Sourav Ganguly buys BMW G 310 GS worth Rs 3.49 lakh

Dada -- as Sourav Ganguly is fondly called -- is no stranger to bikes and he once featured in a Hero Honda commercial alongside actor Hrithik Roshan.

Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has bought a BMW G 310 GS. The adventure bike is priced at Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Last year, swashbuckling all-rounder Yuvraj Singh had purchased a BMW G 310 R, which costs Rs 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The BMW G 310 twins were introduced in India in 2018 and both of them have become quite famous among the motorcycle enthusiasts. The bikes have been developed in collaboration with TVS Motor Company and are produced at the Indian two-wheeler maker's manufacturing facility at Hosur.

Dada -- as Sourav Ganguly is fondly called -- is no stranger to bikes. He once featured in a Hero Honda commercial alongside actor Hrithik Roshan.

Both BMW G 310 GS and BMW G 310 R get a 313 cc, water-cooled, four-stroke single-cylinder engine with rocker arms, four valves per cylinder, double overhead camshafts and wet sump lubrication, producing 34 bhp of power and 28 Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The bikes come in a tubular spaceframe, with a 41 mm upside-down fork front suspension. At the rear, they get cast aluminium dual swing arm, central spring strut and spring pre-load adjustable. The braking duties are performed by 300 mm (diameter) single disc brakes with four-piston radial brake calipers in the front and 240 mm (diameter) single disc brakes having single-piston floating calipers at the rear. Then there is disengageable BMW Motorrad ABS.

BMW G 310 GS is available in three colour options -- racing red, cosmic black and pearl white metallic. It can make a top speed of 143 kmph and the company is providing a three-year warranty on it without any mileage limit.

Handlebars, footrests and operating elements are arranged in a balanced way on BMW G 310 GS. A 180 mm spring travel, the stable upside-down fork and 19-inch front wheel ensure riding enjoyment. The bike also provides the right seat for every rider type. Alongside the standard seat height of just 835 mm, two other options are available as special accessoires -- a lower variant with 820 mm and a higher one with a seat height of 850 mm.

TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad had signed an agreement to produce sub-500 cc bikes in April 2013 and as of now there are three products available in the 310 cc category -- BMW G 310 GS, BMW G 310 R and TVS Apache RR 310.
