Mika Singh and Sonu Nigam are Bollywood’s leading singers, but they belong to the different school of thoughts. On the one hand, Mika is the King of Peppy Punjab music; on the contrary, Sonu is the uncrowned ruler of romantic songs. But on Monday morning, Sonu Nigam schooled the hit Punjabi singer into learning some basic manners on Twitter. It all started when Phillauri singer posted a tweet addressing singers Sonu Nigam and Shaan as ‘Tum’, which clearly did not go down well with the Indian Idol 9 judge.

Mika Singh took to the micro-blogging platform and wrote, “Jab Mai Gata hu tau aap dono suno .. tum bade bhai ho age Mei.everybody loves their voice and they just love my voice awe I’m so lucky”. Mika Singh’s use of ‘tum’ instead of ‘aap’ was not appreciated by Sonu who quickly retorted writing, “Bade bhai hain to ‘Tum’ ka istemal galat hai.. ‘aap’ par hi raho Chhote,” (for the uninformed ones, ‘tum’ is Hindi word to address someone of younger in age while ‘aap’ is used to respectfully address ones who are older in age). Mika Singh is 39 years old, while Sonu Nigam is 43 and Shaan is 44 years of age.

This Twitter exchange is not the first time when Mika Singh and Sonu Nigam have had an altercation. In fact, this class on basic manners by Sonu to Mika is quite subtle compared to their history involving legal hassles. In 2014, Sonu Nigam filed and won a defamation case against Mika, who is the younger brother of singer Daler Mehandi.

The incident took place during Mirchi Music Awards when Mika Singh put up hoardings for his own publicity, which carried a large picture of Mika Singh along with smaller pictures of the other performers at the awards that included Sonu Nigam, Himesh Reshammiya, Shreya Ghoshal and Ayushmann Khurrana.

At present both the singers are doing great in their respective genre of singing. Mika Singh is busy giving chartbusters one after the other – Whats Up from Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri, Dhingana in Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees, 440 Volt in Salman Khan’s Sultan among many. As for Sonu Nigam, apart from judging Sony TV’s singing reality show Indian Idol 9, he has become a viral sensation after collaborating with cricketing great, Sachin Tendulkar. The duo recorded for Indian cricketer’s digital app, 100mb’s song Cricketwali Beat Pe.
