Snowscape for 'Mumbai' test

Calcutta: Snowscape, the easy winner of the Eveready Derby, last Sunday, is heading for Mumbai to take a tilt at next month's Indian Derby. After a careful review of the horse's prospects and the future engagements in the last 48 hours, Deepak Khaitan, the horse's owner and the RCTC chairman, communicated to The Telegraph, through the club that there has been change in plans.

In an informal chat, soon after winning the Derby, Khaitan had expressed his impromptu wish to skip the Mumbai sojourn and concentrate on the Invitation Cup, on March 3. His changed decision was conveyed to this correspondent barely 15 minutes before the outcome of Sunday's Ruia Cup which is considered as the dress-rehearsal for the next month's Indian Derby. The changed plan, in the light of the ante-post Indian Derby favou-rite's, Machiavellianism's, defeat in the Ruia Cup, may, therefore, work to Snowscape's advantage. The horse is sure to relish the long Mahalaxmi straight.
