Smart India Hackathon: Budding Engineers Become Problem Solvers

In a major push to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative, the government has organised Smart India Hackathon 2017 on 1 and 2 April 2017. The event is taking place across 26 centres in India.

Around 10,000 programmers are participating in the event, making it the biggest hackathon in the world.

The Quint visited one of the hackathon centres in Noida to watch the programmers in action. AICTE has organised a marathon 36-hour hackathon in JSS College of Engineering, Noida where students from across the country are working to solve problems provided to them.

The issues range from redesigning websites, to creating apps with database of students or creating a platform to update recruitment of faculty in educational institutions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the students via webcast on Saturday.
