DCGI approves Antibody Cocktail Therapy; Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi commences drug cocktail

New Delhi: In a significant development, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi on Tuesday said that it had commenced administration of monoclonal antibodies cocktail (MAC) to consenting patients with mild and moderate Covid-19 symptoms at high risk of developing a severe illness. The monoclonal antibodies cocktail is a combination of Casirivimab and Imdevimab. Notably, one MAC dose for a patient is available for Rs 59,750. According to Dr. DS Rana, Chairman (BOM), Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said, “As per the claims of the company Roche/ Cipla, we hope MAC will be a major factor in the fight against Covid-19 to prevent the disease from progressing to further severity”. Notably, Roche India on May 24 announced the rollout of its first batch of the antibody cocktail (Casirivimab and Imdevimab) against Coronavirus. Cipla pan-India is marketing the cocktail drug.
